The Humane Society of
Douglas County is seeking
qualified ‘animal loving’
candidates for the position
of Shelter Manager. The
Humane Society of Douglas
County is a non-profit
organization that provides
shelter and care for the
abandoned and surrendered
animals in Douglas County.
Responsibilities include:
Feeds, waters, and cares for
animals; cleans and
maintains cleanliness of
kennels and animal cages;
maintains records on
quarantines, adoptions, and
the status of all animals;
handles adoption of animals
and releases sheltered
animals to owners; collects
fees and issues receipts for
adoptions; work with local
townships on abandoned
animals; supervise shelter
attendants; answers
inquiries from the public,
both over the counter and by
telephone; responsible for
day to day operation of the
shelter; performs other
related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Previous supervisory
experience; ability to care
and feed animals; simple
recordkeeping; ability and
willingness to: work with
and handle animals safely,
properly, and humanely;
learn symptoms of common
animal diseases; learn rules
and regulations governing
animal shelters; ability to
establish and maintain
effective relationships with
the public and co-workers.
Possession of a valid driver's license and insurance.
